Every piece can carry a story. Every story can inspire what comes next.
Children of Fallen Heroes has spent more than a decade standing beside families whose lives changed when someone they loved did not come home. The Kendra Scott partnership gives us another way to share stories of strength, service, family and possibility—and to remind the next generation of young women that their future is still theirs to create.
Story 01
Three Daughters. One Extraordinary Legacy.
Detective Ryan So was a U.S. Navy veteran, a Scottsdale Police detective, a husband and the father of three daughters.
After Ryan was killed in the line of duty, Children of Fallen Heroes had the privilege of spending time in Scottsdale with his wife and their girls.
Their story is one of the reasons this Kendra Scott partnership means so much to us.
Behind the uniform of a fallen hero is a family whose story continues—a surviving spouse moving forward and three young women growing up carrying the love, example and legacy of their father.
We want those girls—and every young woman we serve—to grow up knowing that loss does not define the limits of their future.
Their possibilities are still ahead of them.
Story 02
Tragedy Did Not Write Her Final Chapter.
When Deputy Richard “Keith” Bellar was killed in the line of duty, his wife, Brandi, was left to raise their young family and build a future none of them had expected.
Children of Fallen Heroes had the privilege of bringing Brandi and her children into the wind tunnel at Paraclete XP.
But what inspires us just as much is what happened afterward.
Brandi continued moving forward. She pursued her education, built a new path for herself and her family, and ultimately passed the North Carolina Bar Exam.
Her story carries a message we want every young woman in Children of Fallen Heroes Next Gen to hear:
There are still possibilities ahead.
Education can open doors. Determination can create a new path. And even after unimaginable loss, a woman can continue building an extraordinary future.
Story 03
The Ceremony Ends. The Grief Does Not.
Staff Sergeant Liam A. Flynn was a United States Marine Raider, a husband and a father. In 2015, he was killed during a military training mission, leaving behind his wife, Destiny, and their young daughter.
An Army veteran herself and the daughter of an Air Force veteran, Destiny understood service. Losing Liam brought a different journey—one she has walked while raising their daughter and making sure Liam remains part of every birthday, soccer game and ordinary moment.
The ceremony ends.
The grief does not.
The child keeps growing.
And the surviving parent keeps carrying both love and loss forward.
Destiny has written about that truth in her own voice through The Virago Spirit, and through her advocacy and mentorship she helps other surviving families find their way forward. Today she serves as Children of Fallen Heroes’ Wellness & Mentorship Director.
Her daughter also flew with our Next Gen team at iFLY Wilmington—a reminder that a young woman’s future can be bigger than any single chapter of her story.
The Partnership
Many recognize Kendra Scott as a household name in American fashion. Far fewer know the story of how it began: in 2002, with just $500, a spare bedroom, and an unshakeable belief that a business could serve as a powerful vehicle for good.
That foundational spirit of grit, female leadership and purposeful giving is at the heart of a special collaboration with Children of Fallen Heroes.

Next Gen STEAM
From Human Flight to Future Careers
For Children of Fallen Heroes, indoor skydiving is much more than an athletic experience.
It is a launchpad for discovery.
Through our Next Gen experiences, we introduce families of fallen military members and first responders—as well as young people who might otherwise never have an opportunity like this—to the incredible experience of human flight.
For some, it becomes an unforgettable experience shared with their family.
For others, it may ignite a curiosity that changes the direction of their future.
Inside the wind tunnel, complex educational concepts suddenly become real:
- How does changing body position affect aerodynamic forces?
- How do engineers create and control airflow?
- What roles do physics, mathematics, technology and design play in making human flight possible?
A single experience inside the tunnel can transform abstract science into something a child can see, feel and experience firsthand.
When young girls see female champions mastering the science and athleticism of human flight, they can begin seeing themselves differently too.
Future engineers.
Scientists.
Aviators.
Technologists.
Designers.
And perhaps even the next world champion.
Mentorship
Mentorship in Motion
Imagine a child entering a wind tunnel for the first time and meeting a young national or world champion.
They aren’t simply watching someone accomplish something extraordinary.
They are meeting someone close enough to their own age to make extraordinary suddenly feel possible.
This is where athletics, mentorship and STEAM education come together.
The wind tunnel becomes more than an athletic arena.
It becomes a classroom.
A laboratory.
And a place of discovery.

There is something especially fitting about this partnership.
Kendra Scott’s story demonstrates what can happen when entrepreneurship, creativity and philanthropy come together.
Our Next Gen champions are learning another side of that same lesson:
What you accomplish matters. What you make possible for someone else can matter even more.
Proceeds from this collaboration help Children of Fallen Heroes continue creating Next Gen STEAM Indoor Skydiving programs and experiences for families of our fallen and young people who may otherwise never have the opportunity to fly.
We aren’t simply developing champions.
We are using champions to inspire discovery.
And somewhere inside a child’s first flight could be the spark that creates the next engineer, scientist, aviator, innovator—or world champion.
