You didn’t need an app.
You didn’t need a schedule.
You grabbed your bike, found your friends and disappeared for a while.
We rode through the woods. We made trails where there weren’t any. We stacked up whatever we could find to make a jump. We raced each other down the street.
Sometimes we cleared the jump.
Sometimes we didn’t.
Then we got up and tried it again.
Some of us grew up and traded those childhood bikes for mountain bikes or road bikes. Some started racing. Some never stopped riding.
But most of us probably didn’t realize how much we were learning along the way.
Balance. Confidence. Problem solving. Risk. Gravity. Momentum.
And maybe most importantly:
How to fall down and get back up.
That spirit is part of what Children of Fallen Heroes and USA BMX want to bring to the next generation.
More Than a BMX Track
At America’s Campus for the Next Generation, we’re exploring the development of an all-purpose pump track and trail system designed to introduce more people to riding, outdoor recreation and hands-on learning.
This isn’t only for competitive BMX racers. The vision is broader:
Different bikes. Different abilities. Different backgrounds. One place to ride.
STEAM on the Campus
That dirt underneath the tires? It’s a classroom.
Building and maintaining a track creates opportunities for real-world STEAM education. Students can explore:
Soil
Why does one type of soil perform differently than another?
Drones + Mapping
How can drones help map terrain and document changes to the land?
Engineering
How do you design berms, turns, jumps and transitions?
Water
Where does rainwater go and how does drainage affect the track?
Math + Physics
How do angles, gravity, momentum and speed change the way a rider moves?
Environment
How can trails and recreation be designed responsibly around the existing landscape?
Imagine learning those things and then getting on a bike and experiencing them yourself.
That’s the kind of STEAM education CFH believes in.
Build it. Test it. Ride it. Improve it.
The Starting Line Should Be Open to More People
Children of Fallen Heroes wants this project to explore opportunities for riders with different physical abilities — designed with accessibility in mind from the beginning, not added as an afterthought.
We want children to see adaptive athletes.
We want adaptive athletes participating alongside the larger cycling community.
We want veterans and first responders involved.
We want experienced riders mentoring beginners.
And we want a child who may never have pictured themselves participating in something like this to see another possibility.
It’s not only about who crosses the finish line first. It’s about giving more people the opportunity to reach the starting line.

Children of Fallen Heroes has spent more than a decade bringing experiences and programs to children, families and communities. Now we’re developing a permanent home where those experiences can connect.

USA BMX and the cycling project become another part of that ecosystem — not an isolated facility sitting somewhere on the property.

A veteran may come to mentor and discover adaptive recreation.
A family may simply spend a Saturday outside together.
That’s the point.
America’s Campus for the Next Generation
When we look across this property, we don’t just see acreage.
We see classrooms without walls.
We see trails through the trees.
We see kids riding.
We see adaptive athletes demonstrating what’s possible.
We see engineers and builders teaching students why something works.
We see families outside together.
And we see young people discovering something they didn’t know they were capable of doing.

Children of Fallen Heroes and USA BMX have agreed to work together as we begin developing the vision for cycling, STEAM and adaptive riding at America’s Campus for the Next Generation.
We are now entering the stage where ideas become plans.
Current stage: Vision. Nothing has been built, funded or scheduled yet. Track concepts, site plans, engineering and costs will be shared here as they take shape.
