Children of Fallen Heroes: A 10-Year Journey Rooted in Legacy, Lifted by Purpose (2015–2025)
The story of Children of Fallen Heroes began with personal loss—when President and Founder Ken Wasley lost his father in the tragic U.S. Army Golden Knights plane crash on March 8, 1973.
Fifty years later, in a powerful act of remembrance and healing, Ken returned to the very site of that crash and honored the fallen with a commemorative skydive. That moment marked more than a milestone—it reignited the mission that CFH would carry forward for an entire generation: to uplift the children and families of those who serve and sacrifice.
In the ten years since its founding, CFH has grown from a personal promise into a nationally respected nonprofit. We’ve built programs that empower the children of military members, first responders, foster youth, caregivers, and Title One school students. With our 82-acre retreat and STEM+Arts training center under development in Moore County, NC, we’re creating a permanent home for adventure, healing, and innovation—complete with aviation training, drone tech, wellness programs, and career-building experiences.
From breathtaking Honor Jumps at major sporting events to pioneering STEM+Arts programs that introduce underserved youth to drones, robotics, and flight simulation, CFH has redefined what it means to serve. We’ve built bridges between grief and growth—launching the NEXT GEN skydiving team, creating educational scholarships, and hosting wellness retreats that nurture the mind, body, and spirit.
In 2023, CFH made history by earning the ICAS Platinum Pinnacle Performer of the Year—an elite recognition reserved for world-renowned demo teams like the Blue Angels. It was more than a trophy—it was a testament to the excellence, storytelling, and emotional power behind our aerial performances.
On the ground, our Badges & Books initiative has brought mentorship, hope, and tangible support into 14–20 Title One schools each year, connecting thousands of children to local heroes in law enforcement and first response. We’ve transformed school visits into moments of empowerment, leaving lasting impressions on both hearts and futures.
Now, as we celebrate our 10th Anniversary, CFH stands not just as a nonprofit—but as a movement. One built on sacred ground, fueled by legacy, and aimed at a future where no child of a fallen hero ever walks alone.
