Children of Fallen Heroes is committed to supporting our communities in the Hurricane Helene relief mission. We are no longer accepting drop off locations at Moore County Airport, Tryon International Equestrian Center. Tryon is however is providing supplies for families in need to pick up.
Our team, alongside amazing partners and volunteers, has been working tirelessly to provide essential supplies to the areas most affected. Here’s what we’ve accomplished so far:
• 14 caravan loads, each carrying an average of 2,700 pounds of supplies.
• 5 flights using Cessna 206s, with each load transporting 900 pounds.
• 3 trucks delivering 6,000 pounds of supplies each.
• 10 generators and 19 chainsaws to aid in recovery efforts.
• Over 3,000 pounds of supplies transported by Otters from our skydiving community, totaling 5,000 pounds.
• Over 300 flights by dedicated civilian pilots bringing supplies to remote areas.
• 5 helicopters actively in operation to support supply drops.
• 4 semi-trucks loaded with water, food, and camping supplies.
We are focusing on supply drops coordinated with local fire departments, ensuring that critical resources reach those most in need. Tragically, thousands of lives have been lost in this disaster, and the recovery will take time, dedication, and continued support.
Local first responders in northwest North Carolina have suggested that volunteers dress in civilian clothing rather than military-style gear. Many of these communities have lived independently for generations and may be wary of government or military appearances. A respectful, non-intimidating approach will help build trust and ensure that these communities feel supported.
Children of Fallen Heroes surrounded by our community that is united. We are NC Strong!
