At Children of Fallen Heroes (CFH), we believe every child deserves access to books and the joy of reading. Through our Literacy and Storytime Outreach Program, we work together to provide books to children in need and inspire a lifelong love of learning.

Every child deserves the joy of books! Through Children of Fallen Heroes' Literacy & Storytime Outreach, we’re providing books to children from fallen military and first responder families, foster care, and Title One Schools—ensuring they have access to stories that inspire and educate.

Expanding Literacy Access: Books in the Hands of Those Who Need Them Most
Over the years, we’ve worked tirelessly to ensure that no child is left without the opportunity to read. Here’s how we’ve made a difference:

Title One Schools: CFH has partnered with schools across numerous counties, donating thousands of books to classrooms and libraries, empowering students and teachers alike.

Foster Homes: Recognizing the unique challenges faced by children in foster care, we have delivered books directly to foster homes, creating comforting spaces for kids to escape and dream through reading.

Disaster Relief: In the wake of natural disasters, CFH has stepped in to provide books to children who’ve lost everything, offering them a source of comfort and normalcy during difficult times.

Michelle Nelson-Schmidt is an accomplished children's book author and illustrator, best known for her engaging and heartwarming stories that resonate with young readers and their families. Some of her popular books include "Bob is a Unicorn," "Cordelia," and "Jonathan James and the Whatif Monster." Her work often features themes of imagination, self-acceptance, and the power of positive thinking, making her stories both entertaining and meaningful.
Michelle's illustrations are colorful and vibrant, perfectly complementing her narratives. She has a strong connection with her audience, often engaging with readers through school visits, events, and social media.
