SFC Dominic Perry Legacy Scholarship

Sergeant First Class Dominic Maxwell Perry, 38, of Aberdeen, North Carolina, tragically passed away on June 12, 2024. Born on June 14, 1985, in Frankfurt, 97th General Hospital, Germany, to Carl and Sonja Perry, Dominic enlisted in the United States Army in 2003. He completed basic training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, and advanced training at Fort Gordon, Georgia, as a Satellite Communication Systems Operator/Maintainer.

SFC Perry’s distinguished service included assignments at Fort Benning, Georgia, Fort Bragg, North Carolina, and as a recruiter in Garner, North Carolina. His overseas deployments took him to Iraq, Qatar, and Afghanistan, where he earned numerous awards and decorations for his exceptional service, including the Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Meritorious Unit Citation, Combat Action Badge, and the Senior Parachutist Badge, among others.

In 2019, SFC Perry was selected to join the prestigious U.S. Army Parachute Team as a Demonstration Parachutist. Over the years, he amassed more than 3,100 freefall and 57 military static line jumps, serving as a coach-rated Tandem Instructor and Accelerated Freefall Instructor. His passion for skydiving and his pride in being a "Golden Knight" were unmatched, but his greatest pride was his role as a loving husband and father.

Dominic was a personal friend and a cherished member of  our community. He took part in the 50th Commemoration of the US Army Golden Knights Gold Team in Silk Hope and our Annual Trunk or Treat Event in Moore County, NC. His smile, warmth, and kind heart will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

SFC Perry is survived by his devoted wife of 20 years, Jeanne; his parents Carl and Sonja Perry; his sons Dominic Jr. and Dante; his brother Curtis Perry of Louisiana; his sister Rebecca Perry; and many extended family members and friends. He will be forever remembered for his service, dedication, and the love he shared with all who knew him.

The SFC Dominic Perry Legacy Scholarship honors his memory and supports the education of those who exemplify his values of service, dedication, and commitment to others.
