Rick Herrera – Vice President & Vice Chair, Board of Directors
Rick Herrera, a proud U.S. Air Force Veteran (Retired), serves as the Vice Chair of the Board of Directors for Children of Fallen Heroes. His distinguished military career instilled in him a deep appreciation for the sacrifices of service members and first responders, driving his unwavering commitment to the organization’s mission.
As Vice Chair, Rick brings invaluable leadership, strategic insight, and a passion for service to the Board. His military background equips him with a unique perspective on the challenges faced by the families of fallen heroes, enabling him to advocate effectively and shape impactful programs that provide meaningful support to children, families, and communities in need.

Jane Therrien – Treasurer & Financial Advisor, Board of Directors
Jane Therrien, a military widow, serves as the Treasurer and Financial Advisor for the Children of Fallen Heroes Board of Directors. Her personal journey has given her a deep understanding of the challenges faced by families who have lost a loved one in service to their country. This perspective fuels her dedication to ensuring that the organization fulfills its mission of honoring fallen heroes and supporting their children and families.
With a strong background in financial banking and a compassionate heart, Jane provides critical oversight of the organization’s financial health, ensuring resources are managed responsibly and strategically to maximize impact. Her meticulous approach and financial expertise have been integral to the growth and sustainability of Children of Fallen Heroes.

Ken Wasley – President & Chair, Board of Directors
Ken Wasley is the visionary founder and President of Children of Fallen Heroes, a nonprofit organization dedicated to honoring the legacies of fallen heroes from the military and first responder communities while providing support and opportunities for their children, families, foster kids, caregivers, and Title One schools. With a deep commitment to service and a personal connection to the cause, Ken has spent the past decade driving the organization’s mission with passion and purpose.
Over the past ten years, under Ken’s leadership, Children of Fallen Heroes has grown to serve thousands of children and families, offering transformative programs in STEM+Arts education, mentorship, and community support. The organization’s innovative initiatives—such as dynamic aerial demonstrations, drone light shows, and securing land to develop a Retreat & STEM+Arts Center—have inspired communities while raising awareness of its impactful work.
Ken’s ability to forge meaningful partnerships, inspire community involvement, and advocate for those in need has solidified his reputation as a respected leader across nonprofit, education, and community support networks.
